Log Cabin meals honor a long tradition of home cooking dating to the 1930s.  Our recipes today uphold traditional roots, keeping to wholesome, hearty Western American fare.

BREAKFAST:  At mountain sunrise, Silver Gate mornings begin with the best breakfast of your life.  Start with our amazing organic coffees, ground fresh right in our log kitchen.  Exclusive pancakes are unforgettable.  Homemade hashbrowns are addictive.  Trout & steak fuel the hearty while fresh organic fruit or oatmeal sustain the dainty.  No matter what, don't leave without a slice of pumpkin bread, whether an appetizer or for vacation breakfast dessert!  We serve it grilled with succulent Montana honey.




LUNCH: While the sun crests the mountain tops, don't miss our famous Montana hamburgers, made from scratch from grass fed, free range Beartooth beef.  Coon's Age Farm supplies us, a family operation located just over the Beartooth Mountain pass.  Folks who have been reading rather than hiking all morning, might rather have an organic salad, an organic hummus wrap, or bowl of our signature homemade soups.  Don't miss a slice of our cherry, apple, or blueberry pie (strawberry rhubarb and peach also tempt the sweet tooth). 




DINNER:   To round out your perfect day, join us for an evening meal you won't forget.  Slow down, relax, sip wine and cherish the moment.  Chose an appetizer of smoked salmon (to DIE for), flown to us straight from Petersburg, Alaska, or nibble organic blue corn chips with our original hummus dip.  Entrees include Steak and Crab, Black Angus Ribeye, Steak Oscar, Grilled Chicken, Homemade Pastas, Petersburg grilled Salmon steaks and much more.  Decadent chocolate cakes, rich pecan torte and a cup of organic Peruvian coffee with bring your special day in Silver Gate to a quiet close.

No matter what meal we have the pleasure to serve you, you'll be taking part of a long favored tradition for Yellowstone visitors.  The Log Cabin Cafe is one of the Greater Yellowstone's longest continuously run cafes.  Since 1937, hungry visitors have relished our home cooking.  We have kept all the famous 1930s Café traditions alive, from our famous pancakes (original owner, Al Caulk’s recipe) to Ceil King’s famous pumpkin bread (owner, 1977-2007).  Of course, a favorite standby for thousands of travelers every summer, our world famous grilled trout, hasn’t changed a bit.  We serve it at every meal! 



We are dedicated to cherishing the restaurant’s unique traditional roots.  All our meals use local and wholesome ingredients: fresh vegetables and herbs grown without dangerous chemicals, breads made from Montana wheat,

grass-fed beef raised in the shadow of the Beartooth plateau. Our ingredients recall home cooking of the past, when folks gathered around a dining room of authentic dishes from nearby sources.  Like the meals we all might have tasted at grandmother’s table years ago--  the Log Cabin serves a feast of fresh, hearty and delicious flavors!
